VNXe3200 Storage Processor Enclosure (SPE) enables VNXe3200 customers to keep pace with their growing businesses by expanding their system storage capacity. The VNXe3200's intuitive design easily allows you to add new disks that can be used to expand existing storage pools or create new pools. The VNXe3200 allows you to mix SSD (EFD), SAS or NL-SAS to achieve certain storage capacities or performance metrics. As a unified storage system, data can be shared by SAN for applications and NAS for CIFS or NFS shares. The VNXe3200 is a high-performance, I/O dense, high-capacity storage system in a small 2U form factor.

The VNXe3200 is a unified hybrid flash and all flash storage system. The VNXe3200 provides support for MCx multicore optimization, FAST Cache SSD caching, FAST VP auto-tiering, and Fibre Channel host connectivity, all of which come standard. The VNXe3200 is a dense, 2U dual-controller unified storage system that provides Fibre Channel and IP connectivity for concurrent SAN or NAS operations.

DELL EMC VNXe3200 Base Knowledge
This is the second generation VNXe Disk Processors Enclosures (DPE). One major difference between the VNXe 3200 and the 3300 or the 3150 VNXe DPE. The VNXe3200 can’t have different SP modules installed. They must all be the same. The VNXe3200 also supports a new SP Personality Module, a 4 port 8Gb FC. The new SP also has 48GB of RAM per SP.

Drives Supported: The DPE supports Serial attached-SCSI (SAS), near-line SAS (NL-SAS), and Flash drives in two types of carriers, 2U, 12 (3.5-inch) disk drive carrier or a 2U, 25 (2.5-inch) disk drive carrier.

Storage Processor (SP)
A CPU module with an Intel Xeon Quad Core 2.2-GHz processor with three Double Data Rate Three (DDR3) synchronous dynamic RAM (SDRAM) slots supporting 24 GB (3 x 8 GB) of memory per SP, for a total of 48 GB per DPE.

Disk Array Enclosure (DAE)
In a VNXe3200 Dual SP system, when the 2U, 12 (3.5-inch) disk drive DAE is used with a 2U, 12 (3.5-inch) disk drive DPE, the VNXe3200 platform supports one 2U, 12 (3.5-inch) disk drive DAE or a maximum of 24 (3.5-inch) disk drives. When the 2U, 25 (2.5-inch) disk drive DAE is used with a 2U, 25 (2.5-inch) disk drive DPE, the VNXe3200 Dual SP platform supports one 2U, 25 (2.5-inch) disk drive DAE or a maximum of 50 (3.5-inch) disk drives.
